- Avoid Damage and Unexpected Downtime
Soft start and stop protect your equipment. Reduced starting current allows for smaller fuses, cables, and less energy consumption. Controlled stopping prevents the risk of water hammer and other major losses.
Built-in shaft power monitoring protection and unique load curve protection functions can immediately detect any conditions that may cause inefficiency or damage, thus protecting your production process. Timely alarms and safe shutdowns give you time to take preventive measures.
- Save Energy, Optimize Operation
emotron FDU continuously adjusts motor speed to regulate flow and pressure. No energy waste, no unnecessary equipment wear. When not needed, the sleep function pauses the motor, further reducing energy consumption.
The automatic cleaning pump function improves efficiency. Set the pump to run at full speed at intervals or run at full speed on startup after a certain time to flush out sediment.
Control of multiple pumps or compressors is a reliable and cost-effective way to maintain constant flow or pressure regardless of demand changes. emotron FDU can control up to seven drive units.
- User-Friendly and Reliable Operation
Operating parameters can be set in familiar process units – cubic meters per minute, bar, pascal, etc. – making monitoring easier and more reliable. The detachable control panel has a copy function to transfer settings to other FDU units. Pressing keys on the control panel allows switching between local and remote control. Virtual connections of logic functions, comparators, and timers eliminate cables or external I/O.

Integrated standalone units from 2.5 to 250 A with IP54 protection rating. The robust all-metal enclosure can be installed on-site, saving cabinets and long motor cables. Units from 300 to 1,500 A can be installed in compact IP54-rated cabinets designed by emotron.

- Additional Function Options
A series of options allow you to select the functions of emotron FDU 2.0 according to specific needs and fully utilize this product based entirely on your requirements. Four different options can be used in combination.
- Control of Multiple Pumps or Compressors
Up to 3 I/O boards can be connected. It can control up to 7 pumps or compressors without the need for a PLC or other devices.
- Communication
Communication options include fieldbus communication using Profibus, DeviceNet, and Ethernet, as well as serial communication using RS232, RS485, and Modbus.
- Motor Protection
PTC and PT100 sensors can be connected to control motor temperature and provide process feedback without the need for transmitters.
- Encoder
An encoder can be connected for more precise speed control, such as in dosing pump applications.
- Safe Stop
This option board is designed to prevent accidental start-up during mechanical maintenance, in accordance with EN954-1 Category 3 requirements. No contactor is needed.
- Liquid Cooling
Units above 90 A provide liquid cooling. This reduces operating and maintenance costs and allows the cabinet protection rating to exceed IP54.
- EMC Protection
First environment EMC filter is available as a factory-installed option.
- Reduced Harmonic Distortion
The 12-pulse rectifier is a cost-effective method to reduce harmonic current distortion. This reduces power losses in equipment such as transformers and wiring and avoids the need for oversized equipment.
- Backup Power Supply
An external 24 V AC/DC power supply can be used to power the control circuit to maintain communication and start the system when the three-phase AC power supply is disconnected. It provides communication hot standby in case of three-phase AC power failure.
